Publican’s Punt — Terms and Conditions

1. The promotion
Publican’s Punt is a free promotion conducted by The Illawarra Hotel. The publican selects a horse in an advertised race. If that horse wins, eligible patrons present at the hotel receive a complimentary food and beverage voucher, limited to one voucher per person for that promotional event.

2. No purchase or betting required
Participation is free. Patrons do not need to purchase food or drinks, place a bet, produce a betting ticket, hold a betting account or play gaming machines. Patrons who do not gamble are entitled to participate on the same terms as everyone else.

3. Eligibility
Participants must be aged 18 years or over and lawfully present at the hotel when vouchers are distributed following the official race result. Hotel management and anyone involved in conducting the promotion are ineligible. Proof of age may be required.

4. Event details
Before the relevant race starts, the hotel will publish or display the selected horse, race, event date, voucher value, eligible food and beverages, redemption period and maximum total prize pool. Any additional eligibility conditions will also be disclosed before participation.

5. Race results
The official declared race result determines whether vouchers are awarded. A selection declared a joint winner in a dead heat qualifies as a win. If the selected horse is scratched, any replacement selection will be announced before the race starts. If no replacement is announced, or the race is abandoned or declared void, no vouchers are awarded for that race.

6. Voucher distribution
If the selected horse wins, staff will distribute vouchers throughout the hotel to eligible patrons. Each eligible patron may receive one voucher only for that promotional event, regardless of whether they have purchased anything or participated in any gambling activity.

7. Voucher redemption
Vouchers may be redeemed only at The Illawarra Hotel, for the items and within the period stated on the voucher and in the event details. Vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash, betting credit or gaming credit. Any purchase above the voucher’s value must be paid separately. Vouchers cannot be sold or duplicated.

8. Responsible service of alcohol
Alcohol redemption is subject to responsible service of alcohol requirements. A voucher does not override staff obligations to refuse alcohol service. Patrons are not required to redeem vouchers for alcohol, and food and non-alcoholic options will be available. The promotion does not require or encourage rapid or excessive consumption.

9. Complimentary food
Complimentary food will also be offered following a qualifying win, subject to availability. Patrons should advise staff of allergies or dietary requirements before consuming food.

10. Changes and statutory rights
Any necessary changes will be communicated as soon as reasonably practicable and made in accordance with applicable law. Changes will not retrospectively remove an entitlement already earned. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or remedies available under Australian Consumer Law.
